Introduction:- LUMBINI
is the place where the newly born prince Siddhartha
(simply known as buddha) took his first seven steps
and uttered an epoch-making message to the suffering
humanity, this happened exactly is a beautiful sal grove,
which is now a focal point of Lumbini Garden area. Maya
Devi, the queen of Sakya King Suddhodana od Kapilvastu,
while passing through the Lumbini Garden. On the day
of 'Vaishakha Poornima' (the full moon-day of may 623BC),
took a bath in the Pushkami (the sacred pond) and soon
after she took support of a tree branch, then birth
to the Crown Prince Siddhartha, who become Buddha. The
Lumbini Garden covers an area of 1X3sq. miles and encompasses
three zones each covering one square mile connected
with walkways and a canal. The area has a sub-tropical
monsoon climate with a warm wet season. |

the foot trails
-Do not pluck the flowers
-Do not walk on the monuments

-Do not encourage begging
-Use the meditation platform
for meditation
-Be sensitive while taking

Moving
south from the middle or the monastic zone, one crosses
the circular levee and enters the Sacred Garden, the
focal point and the heart of Lumbini. |

Your
visit can start from the Lumbini Museum, containing
ancient coins, religious manuscripts, terra-cotta fragments,
and Stone metal sculptures. |

Discovered
by the now famous German archaeologist Dr. Fuhrer, the
pillar is the first epigraphic evidence relating to
the life history of Lord Buddha and is also the most
visible land mark of the garden |

One
can also see the brick masonry foundations, known as
the GROUP OF STUPAS and vihars, built in the period
of Mauryan, Gupta and Kushana (between the 3rd century
BC and the 2nd century AD), which are evidence of the
early devotees desire to be near to the sacred birthplace. |
